Merritt RCMP ask for help to find man seen walking into fast-flowing flood water

Police in Merritt are hoping the public can help them identify and locate a man that was last seen walking into flood waters this past weekend.

A man wearing a black hoodie and tan jacket was last seen walking down Chapman Street toward Merritt Secondary School into fast-flowing water during the flood at around 4:22 p.m., Nov. 15, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP said he walked behind the high school and was not seen again.

"We are trying to identify this man and confirm that he is safe,” RCMP Const. Jon Puterbough said in the release.

If you know this person, or if it is you, contact the Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
