Kamloops Hunger Games heating up

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Hunger Games are back after raising more than 46,000 pounds of food in 2013 and this year organizers hope to reach 60,000 pounds.

Created by Enactus Thompson Rivers as part of Campbell's Help Hunger Disappear program teams battle against each other to raise the most food to help get rid of hunger in Kamloops.

The group created the game based on the popular book series and has been putting out videos to help promote the fundraiser, which runs through the month of March.

Last year Findlays Vacuum and Sewing Machines raised 347 of the 2171 items collected for the food bank through the games, enough to win the title and bragging rights. The amount raised was enough to feed 25 people through the month of March.

“Let the Kamloops Hunger Games begin and may the cans of food be ever in your favour.”
