Regional district looking to identify dogs after attack on person in West Kelowna park

The Regional District of Central Okanagan is looking to identify dogs that were involved in an attack on a person in a West Kelowna park last week.

David Gazley, regional district manager of protective services, said it’s an active investigation into a dog attack Nov. 16 at Kalamoir Regional Park.

“The victim sustained some injuries, including numerous dog bites. This required medical attention so now the investigation has led us to fine the owner of the dogs and now we’re looking at seizing some of them,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing, but the regional district hasn’t yet pinned down which dog belongs to whom, he said. They’ve seized two dogs so far and spoken with the owner and are looking for the other two dogs involved in the incident.

The dogs are typically held for 21 days and during this time the dogs are assessed. The RCMP has also been involved, he said.
