Man accused in doctor beating enters not guilty plea

PENTICTON – The man accused of brutally beating a doctor in Penticton Regional Hospital’s psychiatric ward last December says he is not guilty of the offence.

Defence counsel came before Penticton court on Wednesday, March 18 to inform court of Gregory Stanley Nield’s not guilty plea and set a date for further court action.

Nield is accused of beating a psychiatric doctor in Penticton Regional Hospital on Dec. 5, 2014. The doctor suffered a broken jaw and numerous facial injuries as a result of the attack. Nield has since been released on bail, under a strict set of conditions.

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Mar. 23 in Penticton.

  4. He needs to be in a lock down unit, he is obviously disturbedand needs to be monitored.No one whodoes what he did shouldbe outon bailand under restrictions, sorry but he almost killed that Dr.
