Spring street sweep has begun

Spring has sprung up around the Central Okanagan and that means it’s time for the annual street sweep.

City of Kelowna crews are preparing to clean up the winter debris and they’re asking residents to help get the job done properly.

Street sweeping removes the dirt and sand that has accumulated on the roads and bike lanes during the winter. This is an important clean-up operation because it makes a smoother and safer ride for cyclists and motorists. Residents are asked to move their vehicles and sports equipment (such as basketball hoops and hockey nets) from the road so the sweepers can effectively clean the streets in one pass.

Signs will be placed in each neighbourhood 24 hours before the sweeping will occur. This gives residents time to move their vehicles from the roads. If it rains, sweeping will be postponed until the roads are dry.

The City is committed to quality customer service and the safety of our residents.
