Kelowna firefighters respond to suspicious fire

Kamloops fire crews quickly doused a suspicious fire in a vacant building this afternoon.

On Dec. 13, at approximately 1 p.m., the Kelowna Fire Department Dispatch Center received a call reporting smoke coming from a house on Leathead Road, according to a media release.

The arriving crew gained entry into the boarded-up building and quickly doused the fire, the fire department said.

The fire extended into a crawl space and adjacent wall.

Firefighters put out the remaining fire and checked for an extension by opening up the floor area, and nothing was found.
