Vernon man given 28th ticket for not wearing a seatbelt
VERNON – Police conducting vehicle checks Saturday issued a Vernon man his 28th ticket for not wearing his seatbelt.
Though it's the law to wear a seatbelt, police say the man receiving the ticket told them he believes it's better not to be restrained in a car crash.
The man was given a ticket for $167. RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the Motor Vehicle Branch has been notified and there is a possibility ICBC will issue a driving prohibition in the future.
Police also handed out two 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions and one 12-hour driving suspension to a novice driver for having alcohol in their system. Police seized marijuana from one driver.
There were 15 alcohol screening tests and police checked 246 cars during a four hour period.
