Daily COVID case count on the rise in Interior Health with 269

The number of COVID cases in B.C. has remained fairly steady but numbers in the Interior Health region are on the rise with 269 new cases detected in the last 24 hours.

That’s up from the average of 238 a day over the weekend and 188 on Friday, according to a Ministry of Health media release issued today, Dec. 28.

In B.C., there were 1,785 new cases, up only slightly from the 1,713 recorded yesterday and down from the record high of 2,552 set Christmas Day.

There were 400 new cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health region over the past 24 hours, 791 in Fraser Health, 269 on Vancouver Island and 42 in the Northern Health region.

Details on deaths, hospitalizations and vaccination rates won’t be updated until Wednesday, the ministry said.
