Okanagan movie premiering Thursday night

The Okanagan movie industry is active, with one film premiering this week, and another to begin filming this spring.

Landmark Cinemas Xtreme 8 is presenting the Kelowna premiere of Sepia Films' “A Mother’s Nightmare” on Thursday May 9, 2013 at 5 p.m.

Admission is a non-perishable food item (or cash donation) for the Westside Community Food Bank.
 
“A Mother’s Nightmare” is a TV movie, filmed in Okanagan B.C. starring Annabeth Gish, Jessica Lowndes and Grant Gustin. The film tells the story of a teenage romance turned psychotic, which ultimately turns into a battle to survive the possessiveness of an obsessed girlfriend.
 
"A Mother's Nightmare received an amazing amount of support from the Okanagan Film Commission and the community of West Kelowna, we really wanted to give everyone who contributed to the movie a chance to see it on the big screen,” Andy Holmes, of Sepia Films said.

Tickets will be available starting Monday, May 6, and can be picked up at the concession from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.  (Tickets will not be available online or at the automated kiosks. With only 1 screening and 240 seats available, the seats will be first come first serve.
 
Ticket admissions are a non-perishable food item (or cash donation), which coincides with Hunger Awareness Week across Canada May 6 – 10, 2013. Hunger Awareness Week is about raising awareness of the solvable problem of hunger in Canada. Food banks across the country hold events to tell the story of the work they do, and the stories of hungry Canadians assisted by food banks.
 
“The Landmark Cinemas Xtreme 8 is excited to have the opportunity to work with the producers of “A Mother’s Nightmare” to host this screening," Rick Davis, general manager of Landmark said. "There were many local residents involved in the making of it and it gives them and the entire community an opportunity to see their work as well as prominent West Kelowna locations on the big screen. And while it made perfect sense to make admission a donation to the Westside Community Food Bank, we were thrilled to find out that the date we had chosen for the screening fell within Hunger Awareness Week.”
 
Sepia Films is in the process of producing “A Sister's Nightmare” featuring Kelly Rutherford (Melrose Place & Gossip Girl) as the lead role. In this film, police officer Jane’s life goes into a tailspin the day her older sister Cassidy is released from a psychiatric hospital and demands her daughter back.
 
"Sepia Films had such an incredible experience making “A Mother's Nightmare” in the Okanagan, that we are currently preparing another TV movie in West Kelowna for this spring/summer," Holmes said.
 
If anyone is interested in volunteering on the film, they can leave their information at the volunteer table at the theatre the night of the screening. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and the film starts at 5 p.m.
