UPDATE: Highway 97 reopens after ‘serious’ vehicle crash near Coldstream

Highway 97 has reopened this afternoon after it was closed for hours due to a serious vehicle accident.

The accident occurred between Clerke Road and Birnie Road, Jan. 15 and DriveB.C. reported the road has finally reopened in both directions.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said the two-vehicle crash was "serious" and the RCMP is investigating.

Emergency crews were on scene.

— This story was updated at 9:40 a.m. on Jan. 15 to add that both directions of traffic are closed. Initially only southbound traffic was effected.

— This story was corrected at 3:33 p.m. on Jan. 16 to clarify the incident happened on Highway 97, not Highway 7.
