iN VIDEO: Drone captures coyotes prancing around on Skaha Lake
When Chris Philpot spotted a pair of coyotes scouring along the frozen surface of Skaha Lake near Kaleden, he decided to observe their movements using his drone.
The lucky encounter happened, Jan. 15 when Philpot noticed the coyotes chasing eagles on the lake. The birds had left by the time he started recording, but he was able to capture the coyotes running around on ice the way canines do.
"Super excited that I could watch them walk across the ice," he said. "It looked so epic with the reflections, and pretty eerie as well with the low clouds. Totally unexpected, just waking up and seeing them in the distance."

Coyotes in the southern Interior will begin breeding in early February until mid-March. Litters averaging five pups will start to appear in April and May.
