iN VIDEO: Vancouver star Ryan Reynolds thanks Canadian Tire for its 100th birthday
A Vancouver actor known for his role in Marvel’s Deadpool is thanking a Canadian store for supporting healthcare workers on its 100th birthday.
Canadian Tire, one of Canada’s most recognizable retail chains, turned 100 this year and Ryan Reynolds was there to reflect on the birthday.
“For the past couple years, Canadian Tire has stepped up for slammed healthcare workers in huge ways,” Reynolds said in an Instagram post, Feb. 4.
The retail chain donated $5 million to support healthcare and community workers at the frontline of relief and response efforts.
Reynolds fondly remembered going to the store in Vancouver, as his dad was “one of those guys who refused to hire anyone or pay anyone to fix anything around our house. He absolutely had to do it himself.”
“I look back at that time and a sort of love it now and I learned a lot, mainly what not to do with a skill saw,” he said.
He thanked the store for the memories.
