Kelowna RCMP investigating two reports of shots fired within four days

A second shooting occurred in Kelowna within four days has RCMP investigating to see if there is a connection.

Multiple Kelowna RCMP officers responded to a call of report of shots fired around 9:40 p.m. yesterday, Feb. 7, according to an RCMP press release. The shots were heard outside of a building in the 690-block of Academy Way.

Witnesses told officers that after the shots were heard, people could be seen running away and left in a vehicle. There were no reports of injury and there are currently no victims in the investigation.

“This is the second shooting incident in our community in the past four days, and this incident occurred close to the UBCO campus,” Cpl. Tammy Lobb said in the release.

The previous report of shots fired in Kelowna was on Feb. 4 on Fuller Avenue, and a burning vehicle was discovered shortly after on Belgo Road.

“Our investigators are working to identify those responsible and determine whether or not there is a correlation between these two incidents," Lobb said.

The Kelowna RCMP General Investigative Support Team is investigating.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
