Penticton pursues new operating agreement for iconic Peach concession

The operating lease for Penticton’s iconic Peach concession is up for renewal, and the city is looking for new licensing agreements from businesses to oversee it along with two other beach concession stands.

The Sudbury Beach, Skaha East and Peach Concessions will all be examined for the next three-year term, according to a city staff report.

Both the Sudbury Beach and Skaha East locations have been operated by Tickleberry’s, a popular ice cream business in the South Okanagan while LocoLanding Adventure Golf Inc. is the most recent operator of The Peach. LocoLanding assumed the remainder of a 20-year lease in 2016, according to city documents.

Skaha's main concession stand has one more season before its operating agreement expires.

The Peach’s operating agreement expired in January, 2022, while the Sudbury Beach and Skaha East locations expired last September.

Council passed a motion, Feb. 15, to examine proposals to either continue operations with the current businesses or find new ones to operate the concession stands starting May 1, 2022, to April 30, 2025.

The current Peach concession operator could not be immediately reached for comment.
