Vernon daily newspaper to cease publication
VERNON – There will be one less news source in Vernon as of this week.
The daily publication affiliated with Black Press will be published and distributed for the last time on Friday, March 28.
It is a namesake daily published by the Vernon Morning Star.
The paper didn’t contain local news. Instead it had provincial, national and international news stories provided by wire services like The Canadian Press and The Associated Press in the United States. The publications also included items from other Black Press newspapers in the province.
Vernon publisher Ian Jensen says it was a business decision.
He tells the Morning Star there will be no negative impact on the operation or the publication of the tri-weekly paper.
The daily wasn't home delivered. It was left at newspaper stands and businesses.
