WEST KELOWNA – The West Kelowna Feed-In is going ahead as scheduled despite a bit of damage control by the district.
The group declared they would protest at the March 24 council meeting after a delegation from the Interior Health Authority and UBC Okanagan asking council to help them promote breast-feeding were turned away at the last meeting.
Council issued a press release soon after the March 10 meeting saying that Mayor Doug Findlater would be bringing forward the Baby-Friendly initiative for consideration by staff.
However, supporters of the Facebook page West Kelowna Feed-In remain undeterred and plan a rally at tonight’s meeting, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The group may have to wait awhile if they want to hear what council has to say. Unless a councillor makes a motion to move it forward, the Baby-Friendly Initiative is the last item on a lengthy agenda.
