Tip from public helped Vernon RCMP catch robbery suspects

After an armed robbery in Vernon yesterday morning, police shared a photo of the getaway vehicle, and a tip from the public was able to point officers in the right direction.

The two people allegedly responsible for the robbery were arrested later in the day, March 1, according to an RCMP press release.

The alleged robbery took place around 9:45 a.m at a business in the 4300-block of 32nd Street. Shortly after, the RCMP issued a media release about it and shared a surveillance photo of an older Mazda sedan.

Thanks to a tip from the public, officers were able to locate the vehicle in East Vernon shortly after 3 p.m. There were two occupants inside and both were arrested without incident.

“We want to thank everyone who called in with information,” Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.

“The successful outcome of this investigation highlights the important role the public plays in solving crime in our community and we are incredibly thankful for your support.”
