Free rapid antigen will be available for British Columbians aged 60 and older

British Columbians 60 and older will have access to free rapid antigen test kits beginning next week.

The kits will be made available through community pharmacies in the province, Monday, March 7, according to a press release from the Ministry of Health. Each kit contains five tests and those eligible can pick up one kit every 28 days.

Anybody picking up a kit will have to present their personal health number, and to pick up a kit on behalf of somebody else, the other person's name and date of birth will be required in addition to their health number.

The Ministry of Health recommends picking up a kit while asymptomatic to have on hand for when an illness does arise.

There were 3.9 million tests shipped to pharmacy distributors by March 3, and the province is expecting 9 million more tests from the federal government.
