‘Hold and secure’ at Kelowna school after nearby car accident

A Kelowna elementary school was placed under a "hold and secure" this morning after a crash near the school.

The Kelowna RCMP responded to a serious vehicle crash in the area of Glenmore Road and Snowsell Road at roughly 8 a.m. today, March 7, said RCMP communications officer Cpl. Tammy Lobb, via an emailed statement.

"An investigation is underway and additional details will be released when they become available," she said.

A statement released Central Okanagan Public Schools said North Glenmore Elementary staff brought students inside this morning on a recommendation from the RCMP but the school has since returned to its regular routines.

At approximately 10:50 a.m., the suspect involved in the incident was arrested in West Kelowna, Lobb said.
