Man dies after being shot at North Vancouver Superstore

VANCOUVER – Homicide investigators say a man with gang links was the victim of a brazen public shooting in a supermarket parking lot in North Vancouver.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says RCMP received multiple reports of shots fired in the parking lot of the Real Canadian Superstore near the Second Narrows Bridge Friday afternoon.

They say a man suffering gunshot wounds was taken to hospital but did not survive.

Police are identifying the victim as Milad Rahimi, 34, and say they believe the incident was targeted.

They are working with the Lower Mainland Integrated Teams, RCMP, BC Coroners Service and British Columbia's anti-gang unit, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, on the case.

They are looking for information about Rahimi's activities leading up to the shooting and say they are searching for a suspect vehicle, described as a newer model dark blue Mazda 3 hatchback.

"Mr. Rahimi was known to police and his murder has all the markings of a targeted incident," Det. Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi says in a statement.

"IHIT will be working with our policing partners including CFSEU-BC in an effort to mitigate any further violence."
