Kamloops RCMP searching for information on travelling van tied with ‘suspicious’ death

Kamloops police officers are asking for the public's help to determine where a van that has been connected to a suspicious death travelled recently.

RCMP officers found a body inside a vehicle March 17 at around 10 a.m., in the 1600-block of Monterey Place. The death is considered to be suspicious, according to a press release from the RCMP.

A vehicle has been connected by police to the incident.

"We are asking the public for assistance in helping us establish the vehicle's movements during this past week," said Staff Sgt. Todd Wiebe, of the Kamloops RCMP serious crime unit, in the press release. "Please have a look at the van and its license plate. If you think you saw it or if you have dash cam or surveillance footage capturing it, please contact police as soon as possible."

Police are looking for information on the van's travel in Kamloops and surrounding rural areas and communities, including Barriere, Clearwater, Valemount, Savona, Cache Creek, and other spots along those corridors.

The vehicle is described as a 2020 GMC white rental van, with the  B.C. license plate number PJ 9131. It has company markings and logos.

Police are waiting on the results of an autopsy to confirm the victim’s identity and cause of death.

More information will be released to help further the investigation as it becomes available, according to the RCMP.
