Accident forces Highway 1 closure near Chase overnight
DriveBC is reporting the section of Highway 1 at Hoffman's Bluff near Chase is closed in both directions because of a vehicle accident.
The accident happened sometime in the later hours of the evening Monday and the online warning estimates the road will not open until between 5 and 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Traffic is being rerouted via Highway 97 and 97A.
The section of Highway 1 where the accident occurred is included in the Kamloops to Golden improvement plan currently in the engineering phase. The highway is to be widened to four lanes through this section to improve safety, mobility and to reduce delays for motorists.
