
Avalanche closes Trans-Canada between Revelstoke and Golden
The Trans-Canada Highway is closed in both directions between Revelstoke and Golden due to an avalanche.
Drive B.C. is advising motorists to expect delays due to 142.5 kilometres of high avalanche area between Townley Street and 14th Street North.
A photo shared by highway maintenance contractor Emcon Services Inc. shows a significant amount of snow and debris – at least four meters tall – covering both lanes of highway. Emcon reports the avalanche happened near Albert Canyon.
There is no detour available. An assessment is in progress.
