Two stabbed, one man arrested in downtown Kelowna

Two men are in the hospital with stab wounds and another has been arrested following an incident in Kelowna's downtown.

The Kelowna RCMP is investigating a double-stabbing that occurred this morning, April 15, in the downtown core. Police officers responded just before 3 a.m. when they saw a fight in an alley south of the fire hall on Water Street while conducting patrols.

A 26-year-old man and 28-year-old man each sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries, consistent with stab wounds, and were transported to hospital by B.C. Ambulance, according to the RCMP in a news release.

The suspect, a 33-year-old man, was arrested on scene for aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. He is currently being held in police custody as the investigation is ongoing, according to the RCMP.

“It is unknown at this time, what led up to this act of violence,” said Cpl. Tammy Lobb, media relations officer for Kelowna RCMP, in the press release.
