UPDATE: Man in hospital after being allegedly assaulted by multiple people

The Kelowna RCMP is investigating after two men were allegedly assaulted and injured in a Rutland home Saturday.

On April 30, just after 8:35 a.m., Kelowna RCMP were called to a residence in the 200 block of Nickel Road in Kelowna for a report of a man being assaulted by multiple people. 

When officers arrived, they found 33-year-old man suffering from serious injuries sustained during the alleged attack. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

A 41-year-old man was located inside the residence suffering minor injuries after he was allegedly assaulted through the use of bear spray, according to police in a media release.

The suspects had fled the area prior to police arriving at the scene.

“Our officers are on scene processing evidence, speaking with witnesses and canvassing for surveillance video. Evidence gathered so far indicates that this was a targeted incident and there is no risk to the public,” said Cst. Solana Paré of the Kelowna RCMP in the press release. “This investigation is in the preliminary stages, and no arrests have been made at this time.”

Anyone with any information about this crime, or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.

A neighbour of the home on Nickle Road said she saw police vehicles at around 9 a.m. this morning.

Another said there have been multiple people coming and going from the property, which is a rental, in months past but she keeps to herself.
