UPDATE: Cyclist in hospital after serious collision in Kamloops

RCMP closed a major road in Kamloops after a commercial vehicle hit a cyclist this afternoon.

The man riding a bike was taken to hospital after he was struck near the Utility Access Road off Highland Road around 3 p.m., May 11.

First responders headed to the scene, where the road was closed in both ways for more than a half-hour.

The road is the main artery connecting the Juniper Ridge neighbourhood to Valleyview.

At 3:50 p.m., the road was reopened for alternating traffic, according to a Kamloops RCMP news release.
