Suspect arrested in Hiawatha death

KELOWNA – Ryan James Quigley, the man sought in connection with the suspicious death of Aimee Parkes, has been arrested for murder.

Const. Kris Clark says the arrest took place downtown Kelowna at around 9:30 Thursday morning.

“Plainclothes officers were patrolling the downtown core and noticed the suspect vehicle parked in the 500 block of Coronation Ave,” he says. “Ryan Quigley was arrested for murder and remains in police custody.”

Parkes’ body was found in a trailer in Hiawatha Tuesday morning. Police were asked to check on her after she did not show up for work Tuesday morning. Her death was ruled suspicious.

Neighbours say the couple were dating and they heard loud arguments coming from the trailer during the week prior. Rumours were also circulating that Parkes was trying to evict Quigley from the home.

One man who lives next door says the two were dating and had struggled with addiction in the past. He says although they were fighting more lately, they had gotten clean some months ago.

Clark says charges have not yet been laid.
