Several break-ins downtown, no arrests

KAMLOOPS – Downtown Kamloops saw a few break-ins last week.

Last Wednesday, thieves smashed in the front window of Jardines Domaine clothing store and took $1500 worth of men’s denim.

Anthony Salituro, the owner of the store, says he was contacted by RCMP after the store’s alarm went off.

“This is the first (break-in) for us,” Salituro said. The window is temporarily replaced by a wooden board.

Other downtown businesses were broken into overnight on Saturday, but in both cases the suspects were gone before the RCMP arrived.

Just after 11 p.m., thieves smashed the front door of a business in the 400-block of Victoria Street West. Police are checking with the owner to figure out what was taken.
Then just after midnight, the front door of a business in the 700-block of Victoria Street was pried open.

Witnesses called the police about this break-in. A suspect was seen inside the building.

The culprit ran out the back door and into a waiting vehicle before the police got there.
