Woman injured after bike hits culvert on Central Okanagan trail

A woman was injured earlier this week after her bike struck a culvert on the Myra Canyon Trail in the Central Okanagan.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue was asked to assist B.C. Ambulance to access, stabilize, and transport a older woman off the Myra Canyon Trail just before noon on June 8, according to a press release from the rescue team.

The woman had been biking along the trail with a friend when she hit a diagonal culvert across the trail, causing her to lose control of the bicycle and she fell hard on her left side.

The rescue group was told she was not mobile, in shock but her vitals were stable.

They responded with eight members and reached her using bikes.

They were able to stabilize her before a UTV arrived to transport her to an ambulance.

She suffered numerous upper body injures and suspected internal injuries, according to COSAR.
