Alberta man bear sprayed, robbed in downtown Kelowna
KELOWNA – A man from Alberta lost everything he owns when he was bear sprayed and robbed in downtown Kelowna Tuesday.
The man, who has only been in Kelowna a few months, says he was approached by a stranger who bear sprayed him in the face and took his bag on March 31. He was able to get himself to the Shell gas station on the corner of Richter Street and Harvey Avenue just before 11 a.m. where employees calmed him down and called police.
He says this is the second time he’s been robbed since coming to Kelowna and notes everything he owned was in that bag.
RCMP on the scene refused to comment on whether the neighbourhood is at risk but it does not appear anyone has been taken into custody.
