Kamloops RCMP bust ‘suspicious man’ with drugs and guns

A call to police about a suspicious man in a car led to Kamloops RCMP discovering a loaded semi-automatic rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, and an assortment of drugs and cash.

According to a Kamloops RCMP media release, on July 1 at roughly 9:30 p.m. officers attended a parking lot in the 700-block of Tranquille Road after a report came in about a suspicious man in a car.

Police say the vehicle had been reported previously as having been taken without consent, and the man in the car was arrested.

"As part of the investigation that followed, officers located a loaded semi-automatic rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition, an assortment of suspected illegal drugs, and cash," Kamloops RCMP Corp. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Following his arrest, the man was later released and charges will likely follow once the investigation is complete.

Anyone that might have information related to the investigation is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2022-22420.
