Express down Vipers in OT for 2-0 BCHL final lead

VERNON – Adam Rockwood tied the game in the third period and then ended it in overtime as the Coquitlam Express downed the Vernon Vipers 4-3 to take a 2-0 lead in the BCHL Finals.

Vernon took the lead for the second straight night as Dexter Dancs and Brendan Persley scored 1:40 apart in the opening frame. Canon Pieper had a reply for the Express to make it 2-1 after one.

Dancs scored again in the second to put the Vipers up two going into the third but Corey Mackin tallied one in the opening minute and Rockwood tied it at 12:21 of the third.

Rockwood's winner came just 2:07 into overtime.

Games 3 and 4 will be Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15 at Poirier Sports Centre in Coquitlam.
