It was officially the hottest May 7 in history at 29.4 C yesterday.
Vernon broke its 1996 record (28.5 C) by nearly one degree. The average this time of year is around 19 C.
Just a week ago, Vernon was experiencing chilly temperatures, hail and snow in some areas.
Environment Canada is predicting 30 C Wednesday with a UV index of 6 or more. The forecast remains sunny and warm for the rest of the week, with temperatures falling Friday and into the weekend.
With all this heat, emergency response officials are reminding those in low lying or waterside areas to be prepared for the risk of flooding.
