People’s Party of Canada leader touring Okanagan

People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier is touring the Okanagan and will be in Summerland and Kelowna today.

Founded by Bernier in 2018 after he narrowly lost the Conservative leadership race to Andrew Scheer, the People's Party of Canada occupies turf to the right of the Tories, advocating drastically reduced immigration levels, withdrawal from the Paris climate accord and opposition to COVID-19 restrictions.

The party didn't come close to winning a seat anywhere in the last federal election.

Bernier will be in Summerland today, Aug. 18, between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the United Church, according to a media release from the party.

Then he’s going to Kelowna where supporters are invited to join him at the Sunset Ranch Golf & Country Club from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Last night, he paid a visit to Armstrong.
