High temperatures in forecast for Kamloops and Okanagan
Above-average temperatures can be expected in Kamloops and the Okanagan next week.
The average daily high in Penticton and Kelowna is around 26 degrees Celsius for this time of year, according to Gregg Walters, a meteorologist with Environment Canada. The average daily highs in Vernon and Kamloops are 27 degrees.
However daily highs are expected to reach the mid-30s early next week in Kamloops, and the low 30s in the Okanagan.
“It’s certainly going to feel warmer than normal this week,” Walters said.
“However it’s not going to break records because records are generally high.”
The warmer weather is expected to last into next weekend as well.
“The forecast model doesn’t show this pattern breaking down depreciably,” he said, adding that things may change by then.
Environment Canada is forecasting a high of 39 degrees for Kamloops on Friday, Aug. 26.
