Severe thunderstorms expected across southern Interior
Environment Canada isn’t taking any chances and has issued severe thunderstorm watches for several regions of the southern Interior including the South Okanagan.
The weather office says conditions are favourable this afternoon and evening, Aug. 23, for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wing gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
The weather watch reminds people to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors,” the severe thunderstorm watch reads.
