Someone spray-painted these horses in Kamloops

Keira Hockersmith has found a new home for her horses after they were spray painted at a Tk'emlups farm.

She was boarding her six horses at the farm, but now she's concerned for their safety after someone sprayed each of them with an orange, "construction-type" spray paint. She's one of five people who kept their horses at the boarding facility.

"Everyone's horses were pretty freaked out," Hockersmith said.

Hockersmith was shocked when she learned someone accessed the property to graffiti the animals on their torsos within a short window of time that no one was around. 

On Aug. 22, she visited her horses and fed them around 6:15 p.m. There was nothing out of the ordinary.

Another owner arrived around 7:30 p.m. and found each horse in the facility was painted.

The paint wasn't dangerous, but one of her horses broke out in a rash.

Other than skin issues, she's worried that it could have gotten in one of the animal's eyes and for their future safety.

"There's five of us that board there. We're done and moving to a different facility," Hockersmith said. "It's tough because they're full and hard to find."

Now that Hockersmith's six horses are moved, she feels like they'll be safe, but the incident was reported to RCMP. She's hoping anyone with information about the vandals will contact Kamloops RCMP.

Tk'emlups Rural RCMP detachment responded to the farm at 1200-block of Salish Road around 8:45 p.m.

Officers checked with neighbours, but are seeking more information from the public, according to Kamloops RCMP.
