Expect smoke in Kamloops and the Okanagan for the next few days

While no air quality warnings have been issued in the Thompson-Okanagan, wildfire smoke is evident in many parts of southern B.C.

“This smoke is coming from both local fires as well as long-range transport from wildfires south of the USA-Canada border,” B.C. Wildfire posted on its Facebook page Friday, Sept. 2.

“Smoke from large fires across the border in Idaho and Washington has begun moving into the southern part of B.C.”

That includes the Kamloops Fire district that covers Kamloops and the Okanagan.

An air quality advisory remained in effect today, Sept. 2, in the Similkameen and Nicola Valleys because of wildfire smoke expected to last another 24 to 48 hours.
