Kelowna firefighters tackle second suspicious fire in two days
The Kelowna fire department put out a suspicious fire in a garage this morning at around 12:30 a.m., the second suspicious fire in two days
The department received 911 calls around 12:30 a.m. Sept. 4 reporting smoke coming from a building in the 300 block of Academy way, according to a media release.
The fire department responded with three engines, a rescue unit, a command vehicle and fifteen personnel.
Moderate smoke was coming from the front of the building when crews entered and extinguished a fire that was located in the garage, said the department.
Fire damage was contained to the garage. One occupant of the building exited safely.
The fire is suspicious in nature and the information has been passed on to the RCMP. The day earlier, fire crews were fighting another suspicious blase, this time at a commercial business in the 1900 block of Kirschner Road. Crews found flames coming from an inside window in the front of the business and quickly knocked it down. That fire is also under investigation by Kelowna RCMP.
