Why anti-vaxxers in Kamloops are gearing up again

Anti-vaxxers who still are still upset about public health orders related to COVID will be holding another demonstration at the Kamloops cop shop.

Glenn Aalderink is a member of Freedom Kamloops who presented the RCMP with an “informed consent” document in August. It was published by a group called Stand United B.C.

“We’ve tried with higher-ups now it’s time to go after the rank and file,” he told INFOnews in August. “We can’t arrest anyone but we’re going to ask people who can.”

Aalderink does not agree with being labelled an anti-vaxxer. However the 38-page document he presented to the RCMP mentions the word “vaccine” or “vaccination” 179 times, and calls the COVID shots harmful, dangerous and ineffective. It says the reader they may be subject to legal action, and calls vaccine mandates crimes against humanity.

"There is no current public health emergency, nor has there ever been one due to COVID 19," the informed consent papers claim.

Tomorrow morning, Sept. 24, Aalderink's planning to follow up with the police about the documents, and while inside the police detachment, he’s asking supporters to hold a silent vigil across the street.

Supporters are meeting at Peterson Creek parking lot at 11:30 a.m. before marching down to the cop shop.

Cpl. Crystal Evelyn with the Kamloops RCMP said officers are aware of the upcoming protest.

“The complainant is welcome to contact police with any questions they have related to the receipt of material presented,” Evelyn said in an email.

Aside from these protests, does the Kamloops RCMP even deal with COVID-related issues anymore?

“The RCMP remains in contact with its key partners such as Canada Border Services Agency, Public Health Agency of Canada to keep aware of the current situation, possible risks, and mandate requirements,” Evelyn said.
