Flashlight-wielding robbery suspect nabbed by Kamloops police

A 42-year-old Kamloops man is facing a charge of robbery and possession of a weapon after trying to steal from a local business late last week.

Officer were called at around 5:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, to a business in the 700 block of Summit Drive after an employee chased a man who allegedly stole something, according to an RCMP media release. RCMP do not identify the business.

The suspect had what police say appeared to be a weapon which turned out to be a flashlight.

With the help of a police dog, the suspect was found nearby and taken into custody.

Justin Wade Worthington, 42, from Kamloops, was remanded in custody and was scheduled to appear in court today, Oct. 11, charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace and uttering threats.
