More than 20,000 votes cast for Kelowna municipal election

More than 20,000 residents have cast their ballots today and in advanced polls for the Kelowna municipal election.

As of 1 p.m., a total of 20,686 votes were tallied in the Kelowna local election for advanced polls and in-person today, according to a press release issued by the city.

In 2018 during the last municipal election, more than 32,000 residents voted.

Voting locations are open until 8 p.m. tonight. Residents must bring two pieces of identification to prove both residency and identity. At least one piece of identification must have a signature on it, according to the city.

Unofficial results will be published to the city website as they are reported following the close of polls at 8 p.m., Oct. 15.

Official results will be announced by the chief election officer by Oct. 19.
