$200K grant will improve internet service in rural Lumby

NORTH OKANAGAN – A $200,000 investment from the B.C. government will improve internet service for residents in the rural Lumby area. 

This one-time $200,000 investment complements work now completed in the neighbouring Cherryville area to expand its Internet infrastructure. With an additional $50,000 contributed from the Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust, this brings the total government investment for the area to $450,000.

"I know residents in this area are looking for better Internet connectivity. I'm proud that government can respond to this need when it's clear that service improvements for the rural Lumby area are needed," MLA for Vernon-Monashee, Eric Foster said in a press release.

Today, 93% of British Columbians have access to high-speed Internet. The investment is part of government's ongoing efforts to achieve 100% connectivity throughout the province by 2021.
