Fans of pop culture welcome return of Penticton’s Penti-Con

The next edition of Penticton’s annual pop culture festival is this weekend. Like so many other events, Penti-Con had to take the past two years off during the pandemic.

“The community is super excited, but not just the comic-book community,” Lily Knelsen, association chair for Penti-Con said. “Film and television fans, anime lovers and gaming nerds all are rallying to hang out.”

Some attendees travel from across B.C. and Alberta for the event, she said.

Taking part in this year’s convention will be Pokémon voice actor Adin Rudd and Datu Shishir Inocalla who was a stunt double for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Michelangelo in the 1990s.

There will be all sorts of cosplay and vendors to fit the themes.

New activities planned for this year include a horror writing workshop, an art battle, zombie games and non-stop games of Dungeons and Dragons.

Penti-Con happens Saturday, Oct. 22, and Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.
