More snow on the way for Southern Interior

Environment Canada is warning residents to expect a heavy snowfall across the Interior including main highways tomorrow into Monday.

A heavy snowfall warning was issued Nov. 5 for the Southern Interior including the Fraser Canyon, Similkameen, Nicola, South Thompson, Central Okanagan and Southern Okanagan.

Heavy snowfall is also expected on the Coquihalla from Hope to Kamloops, Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass and the Okanagan Connector from Kelowna to Merritt.

"A slow moving low pressure system from the Pacific Ocean will travel from the coast into Southern Interior regions bringing precipitation from the west to meet a cold airmass from the north on Sunday. Where the 2 systems meet and stall, a sustained period of snow even down to valley bottoms is forecast," according to Environment Canada.

The agency did not have the exact amount of snowfall expected but will likely begin falling Sunday morning until midday on Monday, Nov. 7.
