Kamloops man caught driving two stolen vehicles in two weeks
A Kamloops man is in deeper trouble after police caught him driving another stolen vehicle last week.
Around 7:45 a.m. on Nov. 3, John Robert Beauchemin, 36, from Kamloops was recognized by police officers who were responding to a report of a stolen commercial van, according to an RCMP press release.
Police spotted Beauchemin on Paul Lake Road while they were investigating the report of theft.
“The suspect was recognized by police and when the officers attempted to stop him, he allegedly fled in the van in a manner that was dangerous to the public,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
Police were given updates on the vehicle’s location and then located it near Nicolani Drive and Lethbridge Avenue, where it had come to a stop. There was a brief chase on foot before Beauchemin was arrested.
Beauchemin was also busted in a stolen vehicle in Kamloops on Oct. 20.
The new charges he’s facing are for theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop while being pursued by a police officer; operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, possession of property obtained by an offence, and two counts of fail to comply with a release order.
Beauchemin is scheduled to make a court appearance today, Nov. 10.
