Driver faces impaired charge after hitting Kamloops dental office

KAMLOOPS – The Mounties figure speed and alcohol played a role in a car crash in Kamloops early this morning.

RCMP say the car hit a dental office at the corner of 1 Avenue and St. Paul Street at around 6 a.m., April 11.

The Twin Rivers Dental at 121 St. Paul St. was left with extensive damage, while the law firm upstairs, Gillespie and Company, wasn’t damaged.

Police say the air bags deployed in the car and two men in their early 20s were not seriously hurt.

“The driver had been drinking and was brought to the detachment where a breathalyzer test was administered,” Staff Sgt. Edward Preto says in a media release. “Speed and alcohol are factors in this accident.”

He says a charge of impaired driving will be recommended to Crown counsel.
