Three former Canucks about to become Hall-of-Famers

Three former Vancouver Canucks are getting inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, and two of them were visiting the Okanagan a couple month ago.

Forwards Daniel and Henrik Sedin, who were in Penticton in September for the Young Stars Classic, are getting inducted along with goaltender Roberto Luongo. All three played for the Canucks during their run to the Stanley Cup finals in 2011 – the event that led up to a notorious riot.

Despite performing poorly during the most important series of his NHL career, Luongo played 1,044 regular season games, registered 489 wins, and posted a strong overall save percentage of .919. Also, he was a Canuck when he won his first Olympic gold medal in Vancouver in 2010 and his second in Sochi 2014.

Daniel Sedin scored 393 goals and 648 assists in 1,306 NHL games, while Henrik got 240 goals and 830 assists in 1,330 games. The identical twin brothers were both drafted by the Canucks, second and third overall in the 1999 entry draft and spent their entire NHL career in Vancouver. Internationally, the brothers won Olympic gold in Turin in 2006. Daniel also won Silver in Sochi in 2014.
