KAMLOOPS — It took two police pursuits and a police service dog, but Mounties finally tracked down a truck thief from Penticton near Kamloops.

According to Cpl. Wayne Chung of Kamloops RCMP, the 29-year-old driver first escaped a pursuit near Merritt early this morning, putting him on the radar of Kamloops RCMP. As he headed north on Highway 5 towards Kamloops, police picked up his trail again near the Tournament Capital. The driver failed to stop for lights and sirens again but this time they had a tire deflation device to disable the vehicle. Once stopped, the driver fled on foot, but was tracked and caught by a police service dog.

Chung says the pickup truck was stolen. He faces charges of fight from police, dangerous driving, and possession of stolen property.
