Thieves in custody after car break-ins in Pineview

KAMLOOPS – Three people are in custody after Kamloops RCMP responded to a call about someone breaking into vehicles in Pineview early this morning.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush says officers took two women, aged 25 and 38, into custody around 3 a.m., April 13. A 51-year-old man was also arrested and police are trying to figure out how he was involved.

Both women have criminal records. The 25-year-old breached her probation, while the other woman had two outstanding warrants, according to a media release.

The investigation is ongoing and Bush expects more break-in reports to come in today.

She advises vehicle owners not leave anything visible within their cars at night, adding officers determined the women tried to steal wallets left in plain sight.

“This is a crime of opportunity and these people are out looking for vehicles with items visible,” she says in the release.

The Dufferin and Westsyde neighbourhoods were recently targeted by vehicle break-ins.
